Sharpen your colours for World Kids Colouring Day
March 13th 2008 by Megan Bayliss in Child Safety & Protection
Kids - get the pencils, paints and crayons out and do something good for other kids. We adults may paint a fence, a wall, or a second hand chair to help other adults, whereas kids just love to paint on paper because it is their job to learn and process through age appropriate mediums of art. And…kids are natural at it. Kids art work is GREAT!
Asking kids to help kids limits what can be done physically to assist those less fortunate than themselves. Or does it? What if we adults help organise the kids colour up life by selling kids art work and donating the money to charities that help kids. Sounds great! Welcome to World Kids Colouring Day - a fundraising initiative where children’s art work is sold off to help kids in need.
Thumbs up to STAEDTLER: a socially responsible company, who are particularly concerned about the needs and welfare of children. Without STAEDTLER’s World Kids Colouring Day (May 8th), the world may well be a darker place for kids. STAEDTLER is calling on all teachers, educators and parents to organise their own Colouring Days in schools, kindergartens and at home. Further information, suggestions and fundraising ideas can be found at World Kids Colouring.
Want to help kids in need by making their world a little more colourful? Here’s what to do:
- Register to help kids at World Kids Colouring Day
- Colour and sell your art work to friends and family - you can be really creative here with how you organise sales of children’s art work - but remember - child labour is against the law in our developed countries!
- Donations of proceeds can be made electronically or in person at your local Commonwealth Bank branch to the donation account specially set up for this event: Save the Children Fund, BSB: 062 000, Account number: 1275 7357.
From all participants taking part in World Kids Colouring Day, STAEDTLER will recognise those who have organised the most creative activity, those with the highest donation and those with a donation more than $500. Of all donations received by 30 May 2008, STAEDTLER will determine the donation champions who will be rewarded with a great colouring set from the company STAEDTLER
