Search for an Australian survivor of child abuse to support

January 3rd 2008 by Megan Bayliss in Child Abuse

imaginif.JPGImaginif’s January competition is to search and choose a survivor of child abuse to financially, emotionally and practically support throughout 2008: Imaginif’s 2008 Resolution to support an Australian survivor of child abuse.

The BITSS model of Protective BehavioursFor the duration of 2008, Imaginif will enhance our grass roots business model by directly supporting an Australian survivor of child abuse rather than a charity (as we have done in the past). This support may take the form of small financial contributions via fund raising or Google/clixGalore Affiliate Marketing & Networks
hits from this page, training sponsorship, therapy fee waiver, goods and services, practical help, etc.

Are you the Australian survivor of child abuse that we want to support? Only one person can be chosen and therefore we have set some criteria to make the choice easier.

If you:

  • live in Australia,
  • were abused as a child (physical, sexual, emotional or neglect) or are the residential carer/parent of a child who has been abused,
  • have a clear vision of how you want your life to be,
  • are aged between 18 and 60,
  • are a member of either Imaginf’s Safety Talk forum or our sister site All for Women forum (please join prior to entering our search - existing forum members are also welcome to put their name forward for this search),
  • are willing to participate in forum discussions about child abuse, and
  • are willing to have our support of you publicised on this blog (anonymity can still be offered if you prefer) and in the wider media,

then we would like you to enter our January competition, Search for an Australian survivor of Child Abuse to support.

To enter our search, send an email to imaginifatbigponddotcom (by Australia Day, January 26th 2008) telling me;

  • about the child abuse you have survived or have helped your children to survive,
  • what plans you have for surviving and thriving the rest of your / your child’s life, and
  • who to contact to check that you are neither a con or a child abuser yourself (this is optional - if you do give me your therapists/support persons email be sure to give them permission to verify with me that you are indeed a survivor and working through issues),
  • which forum you have joined, All for Women or Imaginif,
  • You can be either male or female. Males get abused too.

BYOkids ...your family travel gurusA criteria of assessment will be used in choosing the person we will support. These criteria will not be made public and no discussion about why we chose a particular person will be entered into publicly. Preference will be given to:

  • survivors who can support their claim of child abuse (this is to weed out the charlatans and not because we do not believe you), and
  • live in an area where an Imaginif or All for Women representative can coordinate support giving.
  • Indigenous Australians are encouraged to put their name forward.

Please email this search for an Australian survivor of child abuse to all survivors that you know. Someone in Australia will have some support from Imaginif this year. Will that person be supported because you took a minute to forward this opportunity to them? I hope so.

A resolution to support an Australian survivor of child abuse decision will be made by the end of January 2008 and support will begin in February 2008.

Article by Megan BaylissIf you are a business that would like to join with Imaginif in this direct support of a survivor of child abuse, then please contact me to discuss what service, good, sponsorship or opportunity you also can award to an Australian person recovering from child abuse. Your contribution will be acknowledged on this site and in all media releases.
