Halloween Safety: WIN Echidna in October
October 2nd 2007 by Megan Bayliss in Child Abuse
With Halloween upon us and the likelihood of children wanting to go Trick or Treating, alone, child safety is at the forefront of our minds. Win your child an Australian safety friend by entering the draw to win an Echidna hand puppet valued at $18.00 (and postage). To enter, simply leave a comment below. No matter where you live in the world, if your name is drawn out of the witches cauldron at Halloween (October 31st, 2007), Echidna will be flying across the land and sea to come and help your child stay safe.
Echidnas sure know how to “Say No”. When they sense danger (intuition) they protect their body by rolling in a tight little ball. Their spiky spines clearly say, “You touch me you’ll be sorry (bad touch)! Each of my spikes is a person I am going tell. With lots of spikes on my back, that is lots of people who are going to know what a loser, child hurting predator you really are!”

Our American partners, Joyce and Preston over at Keeping Kids Safe, have been working overtime on a new product series to help keep your kids safe this Halloween. Check out their new Super Star Safety Club. It is simply fantastic learning designed to keep your child safe, not only while Trick and Treating, but all year round.
Leave your comment now to enter the draw to win the Echidna hand puppet.

My middle son fell in love with the echidna’s when he was 4 years old, He now is 11. The echidnas seem to appear out of nowhere & are drawn towards him. I love them, they are cute & I must say what a wonderful idea to be promoting Australasia to the world

Echidna’s are so unique yet vulnerable.
Some time ago I was holidaying in Tasmania and was driving along a main road. Luckily I wasn’t driving too fast, as ahead of me I saw a tiny object moving across the road .
I stopped the car, and tried to move the young echidna to the side of the road so as not to be killed by a passing car. This was so hard to do, as every time I touched it, it rolled into a tiny prickly ball. Eventually tho, with help from hubby and a towel I did get the echidna to the side of the road unhurt except for its dignity:D

This is such a great idea, the puppets are so much better than the normal toys you see in stores. Great work!

My daughter is a teacher - what a great resource the adorable echidna would be - children often remember more if an aid is used, and also if a teacher is the one talking to them.

this cute little puppet represents vulnerability hidden behind a rough facade. It is so cute most kids and people will relate to it

I once found an echidna in my back garden…I had to wear two pairs of gardening gloves and wrap him in a towel before putting him in an esky to transport him to the nearby forest (which is where I presume he came from)….certainly not as soft as this cute little guy!!

tis great to see something other than teddy bears and bunny rabbits (as cute as they are!) for our precious ones and also great to see there are sites like this one out there.
