WIN Science Toys for Christmas
September 1st 2007 by Megan Bayliss in Child AbuseCan you believe it is September already! My goodness, it will be Christmas before we can “Discover Science.”
With Christmas in mind, September’s competition is a draw to win:
Volcano Force of Nature Science kit
The Volcano Force of Nature Science Kit is perfect for Protective Play. Intuition is all about feelings. Most kids know anger. Did you know that anger is a secondary emotion? Wherever anger surfaces there are a whole lot of primary emotions pushing it up. Emotionally intelligent kids may have more protection from predators because they are able to identify and talk about the feelings that have pushed their anger up. Use this Volcano science kit to talk about the pressure that leads to eruptions. A FANTASTIC resource, the kit includes a sachet of plaster for forming the volcano; a vial to use as the volcano cone, sachets of specially dyed vinegar and bicarbonate of soda to make the eruption happen and a set of paints and brush to creatively decorate the volcano. Also included is a vortex valve to examine how tornadoes work. Information leaflet includes many fascinating facts about volcanoes and tornadoes. Link this intuitive teachable moment with a FREE list of feeling faces available for download from our sidebar. Kit box size: 16 cm (h) x 12 cm (w) x 5 cm (d). Value $12.50.
This was such a cool experiment for my son and I to do together. Check out our volcano antics and pictures of our volcano in Volcanoes in the Backyard
But wait…..there’s more to win in this prize package for the protective play toy competition:
Crystal Wonder
This “Discover Science” kit (for ages 10 and up) produces magical crystal clusters that last forever (well, they are water soluble so “forever” if you keep them out of water). More time consuming than the Volcano science experiment, a degree of patience and curiosity needs to be used across a two week period while the crystals grow, grow and grow.
The full grown Crystals have a quartz like appearance similar to those shown in the picture. My eleven year old son and I made these too and he has added them to his rock collection as a precious symbol of his life at home. Kit includes two sachets of mono ammonium phosphate and growing container. Full instructions supplied. Box size: 16 cm (h) x 12 cm (w) x 5 cm (d). Value $12.50
To enter the draw to win these two protective play toys for Christmas, simply leave a comment below stating you’d like to be entered into the draw.
On the last afternoon of September, Sunday the 3oth at 5pm (Australian time), all names will be put into a hat, and one of the Imaginif team will pull one out. The one pulled will be the winner of the Discover Science kits: Volcano Forces of Nature and Crystal Wonder.
It matters not if you live in Timbuktu or Siberia: we will post your winning ”Discover Science” kits internationally. Total value of prize package is $25.00 PLUS postage.
Be in it to win it! Imaginif….entering competitions was always this easy. Be sure to check back here on September 30th to see if you are the chosen one - particularly if you don’t have a blog or web site with email details.
Go ahead; leave a comment below saying you want to be entered into the draw to win these science toys.

Hi Megan!
It would be great not to have to look any further for Christmas gifts for one of my 9 grandkids.
I wrack my brain to come up with something educational and yet fun at the same time. These look like the answer to my quandry.
