Conversations Around Keeping Kids Safe
July 17th 2007 by Megan Bayliss in Child Safety & ProtectionKeeping kids safe is a standard item, left on the whiteboard for our daily office meetings. Conversations around this rely on talk: views, comments, consumer reactions and behaviours, stories, gossip, ideas, etc.

Imaginif is a dual office company- we have one at home with a physical address and a virtual office with a web address. Our team are both physical and virtual. The physical team operate either at my home or their home and we communicate via email. Our buisness is global, virtual and we rely heavily on technology and conversations.

However, virtual technology also means having to deal with annoying bots and pornography spammers. Have I publicly stated that I hate you both! Conversation on the other hand relies on real people. Virtual conversation is always so much more rewarding when there is a human on the other end of the technology. Have I publicly stated that I love conversation with real people - people like you - people who care about keeping our kids safe.

If you are blogging about keeping kids safe (could be about consumer items, law, water safety, food, travel, etc) I would be interested in conversing with you: daily. I would like to add you to our blog roll.
Just like an office in an external location, my home and virtual office has specific office systems that I follow. One of them is the system of following child safety blogs. My system is to visit each blog on my blog roll, daily - every morning by 9am. Sometimes I leave no comment but my bumpzee or mybloglog photo lets owners know I’ve dropped in - that I care what they’ve got to say and that I support their efforts in raising the profile of child safety and child protection.
Would you like me to visit you? If you blog about child protection and child safety, I would love to have a conversation with you.Leave me a comment here so I can come visit, check your content, and add you to my blog roll. Reciprocation is always appreciated.
Pornographers - go play with yourself.
Very interesting and related post on blogging conversations (non child protection related) from someone whose blog I visit daily: Blogging: I’m Sorry You’ve Been Disconnected!

I really enjoy visiting your website. It’s positive, refreshing, and constantly makes me think of ways I can keep my child, and the ones I mentor safe. I’ve thought, for months, about talking more about children’s issues on my website I’m still thinking about the approach I want. My daughter, along with my mentees have inspired me to include them into my blog.
Thanks to you and the other fabulous writers tat make up Imaginif for inspiring me to do more.

Hi Opal
you are actually an inspiration to me. I love visiting you. You can be sure that we will support your endeavors in writing about kids issues…I link to you already, even when it’s not child related.
On behalf of all of the Imaginif writers, thank you Opal, for being you.
