Been working and studying simultaneously in the Field of Human Services and Social Work for the past ten years with an emphasis placed on Child Protection and supporting the needs of families often in crisis.
Particularly interested in perpetuating the notion that ‘Child Protection is Everyone’s Business’ and we can all play a vital part! Currently on 12 months leave from a community-based Coordinators position thus taking a path less travelled and taking time to view life from a different perspective. Do not like pina colada’s or walks in the rain but open to constant flattery and someone else paying off the mortgage.

Hey, Leigh! Great to see your entry into the Blogoshpere!! I liked your comments about corporate roles in child protection/safety. I agree, our society does need to reconsider its priorities, and that in Australia we have tended not to prioritise child safety/protection even in law - the first ‘welfare’ laws protected animals more than they did children. It’s a bit of a cultural thing, I’m sad to say. Culture is hard to change and slow to respond, so anything we can do to encourage a shift in the direction of making kids safer is a GOOD, GOOD THING.
Can’t wait for you to have your own blog and will look forward to your next comments here
